Resort homes in gated communities are also an option.

The town of Whitney features a downtown area with local shops and dining. As in many small towns in Texas, local school activities, including Friday night lights, are a big part of the community.
Each October, the town sponsors Pioneer Days, with a parade, arts & crafts, live entertainment, horse apple bingo, baby contest, food booths and more.
